Oh, most heavenly of all the heavens! I cannot
believe I went my entire life without this recipe! Kyle's family made this a lot, apparently, so it's a good ol' family traditional meal. Warning, though: it's infused with delicious fatness, and also a little on the expensive side, but this was a special occasion. Or, Kyle really wanted to eat it.
Hamburger Rolls with Cream Cheese
Prep time:
Cook time:
Ingredients
1 Lb Hamburger
1 egg
1 t salt
¼ t pepper
¼ Cup bread crumbs
½ Cup water
1 4 Oz pkg cream cheese
Flour
1 T oil
2 T flour
1 ½ Cup beef broth
½ cup sour cream
1 t tarragon
Directions
Mix together hamburger, egg, salt, pepper, bread crumbs, and water. Roll out on a sheet of plastic wrap into a 4x20 rectangle. Slice cream cheese in thick slices (about a 1/4 in) and lay end to end down one side of meat rectangle. Carefully lift plastic wrap and fold hamburger mix over the top of cream cheese and seal edges. Cut into 8 pieces and coat each with flour and place in frying pan with the 1 T oil. Brown on all sides, about 15 minutes total. Take patties out of pan and keep warm. Add beef broth to pan and keep warm. Add beef broth to pan and bring to boil. Meanwhile add flour to ¼ cup water and stir until smooth. Add to beef broth and heat until thick. Add sour cream and tarragon and heat until hot but not boiling. Add meat patties back in and heat for a few minutes till ready to serve. Serve with gravy over rice, potatoes, or noodles.

Sooooo good! You'll want to be careful in cooking the hamburger roll, because it's super thick, and you don't want to end up with raw meat in the middle. You should have the burner set on one of the lower settings (not the lowest setting, because that'll just take forever) and flip it over once the meat is browned halfway up the sides of the roll. But seriously, I can't think of anything that ever tasted as good as this. Probably shouldn't eat it very often, considering how fat infused it is, but... meh.
Enjoy!
